This is your reminder, your warning sign, your alarm clock.
However you choose to see it, today’s message is meant to bring light and attention to the road to recovery. The road exists, the access is open, but here’s the catch: you have to want recovery.
Now, that might sound obvious.
“Who wouldn’t want recovery?” you might ask.
Well, that’s the tricky part, because the space that truly needs your undivided attention is your awareness of focus. Where is it? On the problem, or on the solution?
Yes, grief is real. It’s heavy. When we face the loss of life here in the land of the living, it shakes our foundation. Of course, we want to feel better, but so often, we give all our attention to the loss itself, and rightfully so at first. We are human. We feel deeply. And that’s okay.
But remember this, the feeling is part of the road, not the destination.
Sometimes we get a flat tire on this road. And instead of fixing it, we sit there, stuck. We don’t call for help. We don’t walk forward. We just stare at the problem, waiting for it to fix itself.
But what if you got up?
What if you started walking toward your next destination, one step, one breath, one act of faith at a time?
When you persist, you do the opposite of resisting.
Resistance keeps you stuck.
Persistence moves you forward.
So, keep driving, keep walking, keep moving.
The road may be bumpy, there may be detours, but each mile brings you closer to peace. Each moment of awareness becomes a marker of progress.
When you shift your focus to the goal of recovery, you begin to experience your journey as a collection of moments, each one sacred, each one moving you away from pain and closer to purpose.
Trust the process.
The road is waiting.
Closing Thoughts
Recovery is not a straight path; it’s a winding road that tests your patience and your faith. Some days you may crawl, some days you may soar, and other days you may simply stand still and breathe. But that, too, is part of healing.
The truth is, every pause, every tear, every moment of awareness is a step forward. You are not starting over; you are continuing. And the road, your road, remains open, ready to meet you wherever you are.
Keep your eyes on the horizon, not the rearview mirror. The destination is not behind you. It’s ahead, and it’s waiting for you to arrive whole, wiser, and ready to live your legacy.
“Recovery doesn’t begin when the pain ends, it begins when you decide to move, even while it still hurts.”
– Patricia D. Freudenberg
Reflection:
Where am I focusing my attention today, on the pain of the past, or the possibility of recovery?
