The Final Hour: Poetry and Grief Series

Final Reflection

As we close this month’s series on Poetry and Grief, today marks our final installment. This journey has taken us through the depths of sorrow, the power of remembrance, and the transformation that grief demands of us. On this last day, we reflect on The Final Hour, a poem that encapsulates the profound emotional weight of loss and the choices we make to find healing.

The Final Hour

The final hour upon my chest. I don’t know how I’m going to rest. Knowing now you’re gone, not here. Sadness, despair, and the ultimate fear.

I shall surrender, I shall let go. A choice I can make that  saves  from heartbreak.

Focus my truth that your spirit is near. Memories are held, always so dear.

It’s the  mystery and acceptance. Even after the deep denial. The anger, the bargaining, eventually, I smile.

When the legacy of you continues to grow. The memories shine, the memories flow.

Reflections on the Final Hour

The final hour of loss can be one of the most traumatic experiences a human can endure. It brings us to the lowest vibrations—grief, fear, despair, and powerlessness. These emotions do not heal on their own, and by all means, they can feel consuming. Yet, one of the great mysteries of being human is the need for contrast—to know both sorrow and joy, darkness and light. It is within this awareness that we gain the power to shift our state of mind.

This choice is an act of healing, one that benefits the mind, body, and soul. And when that final hour comes again—when we are faced with another goodbye—we will have the strength to move forward, carrying the love and legacy of those who came before us.

Thank you for joining us throughout this series. May your journey through grief be one of healing, remembrance, and growth.
