There are seasons in this work when I am reminded that belief is not a fixed point, it is a living dialogue that moves with us through loss, hope and faith. When we speak about the afterlife, especially during moments of transition or the quiet days that follow, the question beneath every other question is simple and human: what comes next
As a grief consultant, one of the earliest lessons we learn is to meet that question head-on. Whether we are beside someone preparing to cross over or supporting loved ones navigating uncertainty, belief becomes a place of comfort. And the truth is, there is no right or wrong answer; there is only what steadies your soul.
Your belief is yours. Personal, sacred and validated by your own experience. You are the only one who can speak in the first person about your understanding of what lies beyond this life.
Years ago, I resisted reading Proof of Heaven. I already believed in heaven and felt anchored in my own faith. But after hearing recommendation after recommendation, I finally opened the book, and I am grateful that I did.
It did not change what I believed; it expanded it. It offered deeper meanings, clearer confirmations and a broader sense of wonder. Written by a medical doctor who once dismissed the idea of a spiritual afterlife, this book provides an unexpected level of insight, humility and awe.
Within its pages, tucked quietly into one of the chapters, I found a poem that is both bittersweet and deeply reassuring. It speaks to love, to presence and to the possibility that those we miss are never truly absent.
Below is the poem shared in the book. May it bring peace to your day.
“When Tomorrow Starts Without Me”
By David M. Romano
When tomorrow starts without me
And I am not here to see
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me
I wish you would not cry
The way you did today
While thinking of the many things
We did not get to say
I know how much you love me
As much as I love you
Each time that you think of me
I know you will miss me too
When tomorrow starts without me
Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand
The angel said my place was ready
In heaven far above
And that I would have to leave behind
All those I dearly love
But when I walked through heaven’s gates
I felt so much at home
When God looked down and smiled at me
From his golden throne
He said this is eternity
And all I promised you
Today, life on Earth is done
But here it starts anew
I promise no tomorrow
For today will always last
And since each day is the exact same way
There is no longing for the past
So when tomorrow starts without me
Do not think we are apart
For every time you think of me
Remember, I am right here in your heart
If you are seeking clarity, reassurance, or simply a fresh perspective on life, this book offers a remarkable journey. Whether you are certain, unsure or somewhere in between, it meets you where you stand.

Quote of the Day
“Peace is the quiet agreement between faith and mystery, a reminder that love continues even when we cannot see the road ahead.” – Patricia D. Freudenberg
Reflection
What belief about the afterlife brings you comfort right now, and how might embracing that belief ease the weight you are carrying today
Closing Thought
Grief invites us into a space where the unknown becomes a companion. You are not asked to understand everything, only to lean into what brings calm, clarity and a sense of continued connection. Love does not fade; it shifts form, and it meets us in the quiet places where we are willing to listen.
